How to go about it! (1/2)

I understand what I read
I understand what I hear
I pronounce what I hear and see

I memorize

In order to absorb hundreds of words a day:
Don't try straight away to read both languages at once.  Read through and listen to the second language version several times to assimilate the vocabulary in the bilingual story you have chosen:

  • Display the text without the translation – Read and listen to the original text.

This way you will train your ear to hear the sounds of the language while simultaneously familiarising yourself with the spelling.

  • Display the translation – Read the translation while listening to the original text.

Like this you will immediately understand what you hear, whatever the language.  Since you do not see the original text but only hear it, you will train your aural comprehension.  You will also learn oral vocabulary. Next page
